Getting things off the ground
A ground breaking ceremony has been held on site to mark the start of the project. Board members and key dignitaries from Arts University Bournemouth joined members of the Morgan Sindall Construction team.
Jon Daines, area director for Morgan Sindall Construction, said: “We’re delighted to be continuing our long-standing partnership with AUB, which spans more than nine years, with our appointment to this landmark scheme. The new development will provide students with high quality accommodation, ideally located at the heart of AUB’s main campus.
“Our team is well versed and experienced in delivering outstanding education projects and working safely and effectively on live sites. We look forward to bringing this wide-ranging experience to bear on this project and delivering a fantastic scheme which will complement and enhance the existing campus.”
Anthony Reed, Head of Corporate Banking in Hampshire and Dorset for HSBC, which is part-funding the project, said: “HSBC UK are delighted to be partnering with such a successful creative institution and supporting their ambitious plans for the future.
“Our local Relationship Team are excited to leverage our international footprint and sector experience to bring this strategy to life, which in turn will support the growth of the local economy and development of so many talented individuals.”
AUB is one of a small number of higher education institutions devoted solely to art, design, media and performance. Its graduate employment rate of 98 per cent is the joint highest among English universities.
